Yes. Oil tanks are classed as hazardous waste, so the required hazardous waste pre-notification is submitted to the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) before any oil tank is removed.

Once the collection has been completed, you’ll receive a copy of the hazardous waste documentation for your records. Where required, this can also be used to support schemes such as the Affordable Warm Scheme.

We remove plastic, steel, single-skin and bunded oil tanks from domestic and commercial properties throughout Northern Ireland. Whether you’re replacing an old heating oil tank, removing a redundant tank or decommissioning a heating system, we can safely remove and dispose of the tank together with any remaining waste heating oil.

Yes. Where the heating oil is still suitable for reuse, we can arrange for it to be transferred into another suitable oil tank before the existing tank is removed. This may be a replacement oil tank or, in some cases, another suitable tank belonging to a neighbour, friend or family member. If the oil is no longer suitable for reuse, it can instead be removed and disposed of as waste heating oil.

In most cases, yes. Many oil tanks are located behind extensions, inside fenced gardens, within boiler houses or surrounded by walls and vegetation. We regularly remove tanks from restricted locations and, where necessary, cut the tank into sections to allow it to be removed safely.

Yes. If the heating oil has become contaminated with water, sludge or dirt, or has been left unused for an extended period, it may no longer be suitable for reuse. In these situations, the waste heating oil can be removed and transported to a licensed facility for disposal in accordance with the environmental regulations.

Most domestic oil tank removals are completed within an hour, although larger commercial tanks, restricted access or tanks requiring dismantling may take longer. Once we’ve seen a few photographs of the tank and its location, we’ll be able to give you a better idea of how long the work is likely to take.
