Asbestos Removal in Killinchy (case study)

We were recently contacted by a homeowner in Kilinchy, County Down, who required the removal of a storm-damaged asbestos roof after high winds caused significant damage to an outbuilding.

Several large trees were blown down during high winds and fell directly onto the outbuilding, causing the corrugated asbestos roof sheets to collapse inward. As a result, the sheets where broken into many smaller sections.

Before the asbestos removal could take place, the customer first had to arrange for the fallen trees to be cut down and removed.

Access to the site was good, and I was able to position the van directly beside the outbuilding, which made the loading process much easier.

In total, there were approximately 20 corrugated asbestos cement roof sheets to be collected. The smaller sections of asbestos were carefully gathered up and double-wrapped in 1000-gauge heavy-duty polythene before being loaded into the van for transport to a licensed hazardous waste facility.

The customer also required copies of the hazardous waste consignment notes, as his insurance company had requested documentation to confirm that the asbestos had been collected and disposed of correctly.

Despite the roof being extensively damaged and the asbestos broken into many smaller pieces, the job went smoothly and the customer was provided with all of the paperwork needed for his insurance claim.
