Metal Oil Tank Removal in Antrim (case study)
We recently completed a metal oil tank removal in Antrim after a large, disused steel oil tank was discovered hidden beneath overgrown brambles and ivy behind a shed. The homeowners had only recently uncovered the tank while clearing the garden, where it had been concealed for many years.

The tank had previously been replaced with a newer bunded oil tank positioned nearby, and the original steel tank had simply been left in place and allowed to become overgrown. Once exposed, it became an obvious eyesore and was taking up valuable space within the garden.
Access to the rear of the property was restricted, with narrow steps and a tight pathway along the side of the house, meaning it wasn’t practical to remove the tank in one piece. The tank was also partially embedded in the ground and had to be carefully lifted free before removal, all while working in close proximity to the newly installed bunded tank.
Due to its size (approximately 2,000 litres), the tank was safely cut into manageable sections using a cold cutting technique, allowing for removal through the restricted access. All sections were then removed and taken away for disposal, leaving the area clear and ready for use.

Oil Tank Services Northern Ireland
If you’ve discovered an old or unused oil tank on your property, we provide a full range of professional oil tank services across Northern Ireland. This includes the removal of single skin tanks, bunded tanks, and metal oil tanks, as well as the safe disposal of waste heating oil. We also offer heating oil transfer services, oil tank replacements, and the removal of all types of hazardous waste.
All work is carried out in line with Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) regulations. Prior to the collection of any hazardous waste, a consignment number is allocated and a pre-notification form is completed, detailing the customer’s address, relevant hazardous waste codes, the scheduled date of removal, and the company carrying out the work. This is then submitted to the NIEA for approval.
Once approved, the waste is collected and transported to a licensed hazardous waste facility for disposal. We also supply the necessary documentation for customers applying for grants, including those under the Affordable Warmth Scheme in Northern Ireland.
